Alliance for Entrepreneurship and Development in Western Greece in the context of European Entrepreneurial Region 2017

A Memorandum of Cooperation for the creation of the Network for Entrepreneurship in Western Greece that includes the implementation of a framework of actions in administrative, operational, educational, scientific, and research level to enhance business, was agreed to be signed during the second meeting held in boardroom of the Regional Council, in the context of the recent award of Western Greece "European Entrepreneurial Region 2017" by the Committee of EU Regions.
The purpose is to extend the network to all stakeholders that will have an active role in plan’s implementation for SME entrepreneurship enhancement and in actions’ specialization focusing in networking concept.
"What we want and what we all have to be, is to utilize as much as possible the opportunities given to us by this Award. The cooperation with all our partners is of major importance to engrave future strategies for entrepreneurship in our region", underlined Deputy Head for Regional Development and Entrepreneurship Kostas Karpetas and added: "This is about a cooperative venture that is not the work of a single entity. There are several actions, but they are possible to be achieved in cooperation in purpose to consolidate a friendly climate for entrepreneurship. At the same time, the case of Western Greece may be the pilot for innovative practices in support of entrepreneurship.
For their part, the Development Planning General Manager, Environment and Infrastructure Dimitris Karavidas and the Head of the Planning Department Regional Policy Spyros Papaspyrou reported detail in the Network priorities on entrepreneurship in Western Greece.
Furthermore, it was agreed to allocate activities and create an Executive Committee that will proceed on think and action tanks recommendation in cooperation with the stakeholders on topical issues related to entrepreneurship in our region, while closing, is was reported the direct benefits by participation in the Network expected at a business level and the development of the European Entrepreneurial Region in Western Greece.
Network involved: GS Industry of the Ministry of Economy Development and Tourism, University of Patras, Chamber of Etoloakarnania, Chamber of Achaia, Chamber of Ilia, HFE of Peloponnese and Western Greece, Centre of Planning and Economic Research-CPER, Enterprise Organization of Greece, OAED, TEI of Western Greece, HOU, Occupational Federation - Craft - Trade Unions in Western Greece, SEVIPA, Western Greece Association of Technological Enterprises, Hellenic Association of Young Entrepreneurs of Western Greece ESYNE, RDFs, Special Management Service T.R. of Western Greece.
