

Issues relates with entrepreneurship, primary sector and Orange Grove mentioned in the meeting of the Regional President Ap. Katsifaras with Ambassador of the Netherlands

The strengthening of the primary sector, greenhouse crops, tourism and culture and especially the strengthening of entrepreneurship and startups of young formed the agenda of the meeting that the President of the Region of Western Greece Apostolos Katsifaras had with the Ambassador of the Netherlands Kaspar Velntkamp today at the offices of the Region in Patras.
The President of Region has described to Mr. Ambassador the key benefits of Western Greece, with a particular emphasis on the primary sector, of major importance for the region and on the aid strategy that taken place by Agrofood Partnership with a particular reference to greenhouse crops.
At the same time, a focus was given on the high level that exists in the region regarding research and innovation, while the Region of Western Greece has prioritized the strengthening of innovation in entrepreneurship through the Research and Technology Strategy for Smart Specialization (RIS3) in the NSRF, and actions such as the IQ Patras.
The Ambassador Mr. Velntkamp stressed that Western Greece has a particular interest for his country, since in our region exist dutch business investments.
He mentioned particularly the Orange Grove project that was set up by the Dutch Embassy in Greece in order to assist startups, as our country has multi-talented young people, noting also that an Annex is already being prepared in Patras that will be housed at the Science Park.
In addition, he talked about agri-nutritional seminars for young farmers organized by the Greece Embassy of Holland, to help then introduce innovative ways for the production and promotion of their products, while President of Region Ap. Katsifaras proposed their inclusion under the Agrofood Partnership.
On his part, the Deputy Head of Regional Development and Entrepreneurship Kostas Karpetas pointed out that the annex of Orange Grove project should join the Network for Entrepreneurship in Western Greece that is being prepared in the context award of the Region of Western Greece as European Entrepreneurial Region 2017.
Furthermore, it was agreed further cooperation in tourism and culture, sectors that concern both sides.
In the meeting also participated the Consul of Holland in Patras and Director of Nounou factory in the Industrial Area, Vassilis Kyriakopoulos.
